TONBRIDGE JUNIOR FOOTBALL CLUB’S
Annual Mini Soccer Fiesta
Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 July 2009
The Racecourse Sportsground, Tonbridge
A Massive Celebration of Sportsmanship and Family Enjoyment
'NOT A DAY OUT - MORE AN EXPERIENCE'
This will be the sixteenth year we have run the event, which has now not only become a prestigious annual footballing event but is most probably the largest event of its kind, over one weekend, in the country and most certainly the largest amateur sporting event here in Tonbridge. Teams travel to participate from seven other counties, in addition to the many teams from Kent.
Details shown below are based upon the 2008 Fiesta and, although they are expected to be similar in 2009, will be updated as soon as confirmations have been received.
Over 300 teams of boys, girls, men and women will compete in over 1,000 mini soccer games on 19 pitches. The event is sanctioned by the FA and all matches will be officiated by fully qualified referees. The weekend will be divided into four half-day sessions with presentations being made at the end of each session. The Mayor and also the Deputy Mayor of Tonbridge & Malling will be attending together with other dignitaries (yet to be confirmed).
The Original FA Cup is due on site throughout the event. The David Beckham Academy will be running circuit training. Charlton Athletic FC will be running skills challenges and the Brazilian Soccer Schools will be running Futebol de Salao training sessions.
DE Photo will be taking action pictures throughout the event, available for viewing and purchase within minutes. R&P Photographic will again be there for team and individual photo packs, available later.
Other attractions will include a giant 30ft high slide, bouncy castle and an assault course. There will be an ‘instant’ Event Raffle running from the Refreshment area - one of the prizes being a three-day camp at The David Beckham Academy.
Hot and cold refreshments will be available. We welcome gazebos, picnics, etc. But, for safety reasons, no barbecues will be permitted.
Adult spectators will be charged £1.50 admission inclusive of a very comprehensive programme. Children are admitted free of charge.
This is an event that is co-ordinated, controlled and manned by a small army of dedicated people on a totally voluntary basis and we do pride ourselves on the reputation the event has gained for being well organised, very enjoyable for all the family and not an expensive day out.
More detailed information regarding rules of play, participating teams, location and other facilities at the event can be found on www.tjfc.org.uk then click on FIESTA.
