November 2008

The second Management Committee meeting took place on Thursday 30th October and the following items were discussed.

Kit Deposit Payment - These were mentioned in the last newsletter and we have since carried out a check on all the deposit payments we currently hold. This check has identified that a large majority of payments have not been requested in recent seasons. Due to the numbers involved it was agreed we would hold fire on requesting cheques at this time, instead each player will be asked to send in a kit deposit cheque with their registration form/payment at the start of next season.

Rain Jackets - Samples of the Rain Jackets are on display at the pavilion. Martin Michelmore will be sending off this season’s order in the next few weeks so please ensure that your order is received in time to be included.

Yellow Line Spectator Boxes - This was mentioned in the last newsletter. Reg Spicer is still in negotiation with TMBC regarding the installation of these to the pitches at the Racecourse. A number of managers reported that they have introduced, as a temporary solution, coned spectator areas and we would ask for your cooperation in observing these boundary lines should they be in place. Thank you

Registration Secretary – Mini Soccer/Girls -  It was reported at the last meeting that Paula Fry is standing down from this role. We are delighted to inform you that Sarah Hardcastle has kindly agreed to take over this position. We welcome Sarah to the committee and take this opportunity to thank Paula for all her hard work over the last few seasons.

Kitchen Helpers - The kitchen helpers rota continues to be running successfully with all mini soccer age groups taking part. Helpers are kindly asked to be at the pavilion at 9.00am in order for the kitchen to be ready for the start of the training at 9.30am. Thank you to all those who have volunteered.

Car Parking - Following the increase in car parking charges in the whole of Tonbridge, parents are reminded that the concession of £1.80 offered by TMBC is only valid in the Lower Castle car park and only applies on Saturdays.  If you do display a 3 hour ticket, this will be valid all day.

Numbers - Currently the number of players registered with TJFC are as follows. Mini soccer and girls = 163Youth football = 132

Suggestions Box – have your say! The suggestions box will be installed by weekending 8th/9th November, please let us have any comments/suggestions you may have.

Remembrance Sunday  - 9th November 2008 All home matches will commence after 11.00am on this day and we will be observing a minute silence at 11.00am for any teams on the Racecourse at this time.

Litter -  It was reported that there is a considerable amount of litter on the sportsground when our teams arrive, particularly on Saturday mornings. This has been brought to the attention of the Tonbridge Sports Association. Thank you to those who assist the managers in tidying away this rubbish.

Diary Dates - Next years AGM will be taking place on Thursday 11th June at Poultwood Golf Course, at 8.00pm. All parents are invited to attend.

Club Secretary - As you may be aware Brian Tippett will be standing down as Club Secretary at the end of this season after 16 years service. If you feel you would like to be considered for this extremely worthwhile role please speak to either Reg or Brian who will be only too happy to pass on details of what is involved!  Brian will continue as General Manager and u6/u7 Manager, so the duties are not as onerous as you might think they are – and Brian has agreed to assist during any handover period.
